I know I know, I suck...

Sat Sep 1, 2007, 12:44 PM
Yeah, my "disappearing acts" over the last several months haven't been cool. I swear I'm still working on stuff! In fact, I expect to upload several new pieces this week. As for Unholy, I'm still really intent on working on it. The only problem is my computer is totally showing its age, and I'm having a lot of trouble doing digital artwork because of it. (Hence the new stuff I'll be uploading this week is traditional, vector or very small size Painter/Photoshop stuff.) I'm due for a new computer hopefully some time in September. (23" Mac monitor = drool. Would have wanted a 30", but ferret needs surgery, hence less money for a monitor.)

I've also been focusing on trying to find that glorious first (full time illustration) job out of college. If you all have happy thoughts to spare, I could use them this coming Tuesday! (Going back for a second interview with a company I really like...)

And... back to working on my (gasp!) watercolor...

P.S. Many thanks to people who added me/favorited my stuff while I was "gone." Thank you thank you thank you!

Bob-Artist.com!

Tue May 22, 2007, 12:41 PM
Woohoo! I just wanted to announce that my website, Bob-Artist.com, is now fully up and running! You can go there to see lots of artwork, much of which I haven't posted to deviantART.

Just a warning, though -- for those of you who are reading Unholy, you might want to steer clear of the "Pages" section on the "Sequential Work" page. Several of the thumbnails are for pages I haven't yet posted to DA, and while they're too small to read the text, don't look at them if you don't want to get the story spoiled a bit. ^_^

But anyway, please do check out Bob-Artist.com!

While I'm Re-Uploading

Mon May 14, 2007, 7:31 PM
I just wanted to explain a bit about Unholy and its "situation." ^_^

As mentioned before, I rewrote the prologue. Same story, but told in a slightly different way. It's kind of dorky that I already posted the scene and am now posting it again in a different way, but oh well. I don't see myself redoing any of the other scenes I've already finished, so things should go much more quickly now. I've also done a bit of "rearranging" with the cover and splash page stuff. And finally, I'm now going to be uploading spreads instead of single pages, since I've been designing them as spreads anyway.

I'll be moving the old pages to the scraps section. I plan on uploading all the previously posted stuff today. You may also notice that there are more pages behind mature content filters. I decided that it was better to do it that way than to censor the dialogue.

Blah blah blah. I think you guys get the point.

Bob and Unholy are both still alive!

Mon May 7, 2007, 10:53 PM
Whew! It's been a crazy semester, but I'm now done with all my classes. Which means I'm... GRADUATING! (eek)

It's been an absolutely crazy semester. I was the coordinator for organizing our senior thesis show this year, and it was a whole lot of work, long stretches without sleep (with 60 hours being the longest), and quite a bit more drama than I would have cared for. But still, it was a great learning experience!

Unfortunately, much of the artwork I'm most proud of this semester can't be posted online, since I plan to send it out to publishers. But there's still other stuff to show as well. Like my thesis!

For my thesis, I completed three scenes from Unholy, of all things. For those of you who don't know, Unholy is the comic I've been working on. I'm now just about done with the first 34 pages, and I'll be posting them soon! I ended up going and rewriting the prologue as one of the scenes for my thesis. I'll probably move the old prologue to scraps. Nothing's changed in the storyline, just in the way I'm presenting it. So yeah, that means I'm kind of going to be re-uploading from scratch. But considering that almost all of the pages are done, this should go by rather quickly.

So anyway, thank you to all those people who watched me or fave'd my work, whom I haven't thanked personally. You guys are awesome! And I got a lot of catching up to do...

About Unholy

Tue Feb 13, 2007, 11:59 AM
As I'm getting ready to upload the next five pages of Unholy, I figured I'd actually explain what my intent is behind the story.

First off, Unholy uses a hybrid format. It's sort of a mix between a comic and a written novel. This wasn't as evident in the prologue, but it becomes a little more clear in the next pages. This story is fairly text-heavy. I personally love prose, and I love reading, so there's no way I'd be able to discard it completely.

Secondly, there will be limits to what I post on deviantART, for a couple of reasons. There is some, ahem, "strong language" in this story, but I don't want to have to put all my pages behind mature content filters, so I'll be uploading what is essentially a censored version of the story. (I won't censor images, though; any page with "mature" images will be labeled as mature.)

Also, this story will be in print and on sale when it's done. For this reason, I can't put the whole story online. This was my intention from the beginning, and I'm sorry if I wasn't clear about that before. In a few more months, I'll be entering the "professional world," so unfortunately, this is how it has to be.

Okay, enough explanation. Enjoy the story!
