Full view, please!!!

An assignment for computer illustration class... Design a character, do sketches, put together a "sketchbook layout" with at least one image painted in Photoshop. Obviously, a lot of my writing is too small to read, but the basic idea is that this is a sort of nature spirit (and the alternate form of Tempest, who appears a few times in the scraps section of my DA account). His primary job is to destroy things that need to be destroyed, in order to maintain a balance that's been upset due to humans trying to unnaturally increase the longevity of, well, everything. Of course, this doesn't make him all that popular with the people. ^_^

There's a close-up of the colored portrait in the lower right corner HERE.

Meh, you need to go easier on yourself. If I work hard on an assignment and learn from it, or at least get a good piece out of it (which you definately did here) than that's usually good enough for me. It's more about stepping forward than getting a perfect grade, although A's are always nice.

Remember, Perez (and many other teachers) are hesitant to give solid A's, let alone A+'s, because students who get them have a tendency to slack off on the next project. Remember, the actual project grades don't actually add up into our semester grade directly; they serve more as a guideline than a formula. ;)

hay your really good I must go through the rest of your things, and I hope I will soon.

Very, very cool character design.

Just butting in here (sorry). It's the same at my university, they don't like giving out the really juicy grades in case the student gets complacent, but it's all moderated and scaled at the end anyway.

I really like your workbook sketches, are there any more that you did prior to those?

Hehehe, I agree with what you're saying. ^_^ I care much more about making good artwork than I do about getting a good grade, but I always figured that if you did a good piece, the evidence would be in the grade. But the main thing is that during the various past semesters where I got sick, I ended up not getting the best grades as a result. Now that I'm actually well and capable of working to the best of my abilities, I want to try to bring my GPA back up. (it's not bad at all right now, but it's not as good as I want it to be. And as it turns out, *some* people actually do want to know what it is (like Leo Burnett).)

Hehehe, I think you're right about the "juicy grades." The teacher did say something to that effect, too...

I did do several other sketches that didn't make it into the final project. I liked some of them and was sad that I couldn't include them, but the vast majority are better off in the shredder. ^_^ Sketching has never been my forte. I have lots of trouble keeping things loose and experimental, and the only way I can sketch well is to approach it as if it's going to be a finished drawing.

Oh and by the way, feel free to butt in whenever you want! I like butts. (er, j/k about that last part, but seriously, it's all good. ^_^)

I really like this, his eyes are cool. And the colouring technique is really good.

Did you use Arthur Rackham as inspiration, or as a reference?

Neways, this is really good. I like it muchly.

Me, I disconnect from you.
